Ernest Miller Process

Process & Philosophy | Biography | Teaching | Faq’s

I am a potter. I use clay to make bottles, vessels and plates that serve both functional and decorative purposes in people’s homes.  Glaze and shape— are focal aspects of my aesthetic and create a consistent through-line connecting my body of work.  I draw inspiration from nature, architecture, and the rich heritage of others who work with clay.  My artistic process involves technical challenge, visual inspiration, and the meditation of creating at the wheel—in almost equal parts.  Completing a piece and recognizing in it a certain contemporary aesthetic and serene sensibility that I feel is uniquely my own is the most satisfying experience there is.
